Crosswalk divergent cup progressions
Cup letters diverge above D: US jumps to DDD then G, whereas UK uses double letters (DD, E, F, FF, G). Crosswalking preserves identical breast cup capacity.
Frequently Asked Questions
US and UK sizing align up through D and DD. Above DD, US sizing progresses directly to DDD (often called F) then G, H, I. In contrast, UK sizing uses single and double letters: DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H. Therefore, a US DDD/F corresponds to a UK E cup, and a UK F cup corresponds to a US G cup.
European band sizes are stated in centimeters (65, 70, 75, 80, 85, etc.), but incorporate approximately 10cm of built-in stretch ease. For example, an underbust measurement of 86cm (34 inches) corresponds to an EU band 75 rather than an 85.
French bra sizes use the identical cup progression as European (EU) sizing, but French band numbers are always 15 units higher than EU band numbers. For example, an EU 75 band (equivalent to a US/UK 34 band) is labeled as a French 90 band.
Many international manufacturers print multi-country tags using direct 1:1 cup conversions that fail to account for differing national cup progressions above DD. For instance, a UK manufacturer may label a UK 34F as a US 34F on the tag, even though a UK F cup actually equals a US 34G.
